It was my birthday a few days ago and I thrilled to receive an Amazon Gift Card from my cousin. My first thought, of course, was which books I would buy with my gift card as I have a wishlist a mile long.
After much angst about which books I would or would not purchase through Amazon, I'm now considering NOT buying any books at all with my Amazon Gift Card! Yes, I know, a 180 degree change of mind... I just can't imagine not buying more books as I love them and I do love reading books.
But, and this is a BIG BUT, I have soooo many physical books, audiobooks on compact disc, Audible audiobooks, and ebooks on my Kindle waiting to be read, that I can't imagine adding more books to my collection right now. I'm actually on book overload as it is right, which is something I never thought I'd actually every say. So, at the moment, adding more books to my book collection seems like overkill to me. Instead, I think I'll use my Amazon Gift Card for some non-book related items!!
I guess the big question I have for my blog readers is the following one. If you received an Amazon Gift Card, would use it to still buy more books, even though you already have a gazillion books on hand? Or would you use it to purchase something else instead?

Buy more books! Ha. I had told myself I wouldn't buy myself any more books, but then I got an Amazon gift card for my birthday earlier this month. I just couldn't help myself.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going to buy any more books for the 2015 calendar year, but that goal didn't last!! I keep wanting to refrain from buying books or downloading the freebies from Amazon for a year and just read what I have on hand. But adding more books to my collection usually wins out.
DeleteI'm glad that I'm not the only one that feels this way! Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteThere are just too many books in this world to get my hands on. When you can afford to buy more, buy more. And when you have a gift card you buy even more! It's freeee!!!
ReplyDeleteTrue enough!! It's difficult NOT to buy more books!!
DeleteI tend to not buy books on Amazon anymore, well, aside from e-books (or if I can't find something secondhand anywhere else). But I would totally buy some movies or tv shows. I am a bit of an addict though lol my last Amazon purchase was actually some shoes, which was a first.
ReplyDeleteThe best part about Amazon is that there is SO much choice, so whatever you end up buying, I hope you love it!

I love the freebies on Amazon for my Kindle!! I also buy used books through Amazon too as they tend to be cheaper than the new ones a lot of times.
DeleteMost of the time I would buy more books but just books that I've read already but I want to reread over and over and over. Otherwise, I'd definitely go for non-book items! I've gone on Amazon freebie sprees and I have so many books that I haven't read yet! Good luck reading all those books!

Thanks for leaving me a comment!! I'm having fun with reading the books I have on hand, even though I occasionally want to add new ones to my reading list. So many good books, so little time!!
DeleteOoh...that's a toughy. Well, unless I really, really, really want a book then I'll use my Amazon gc. However, my friends tend to give me both Amazon and B&N cards so I only buy books with my B&N and other items with Amazon.
ReplyDeleteWow, lucky you that you have friends that gift cards to both Amazon and Barnes and Noble!
