Bout of Books

Yay, I don't know about you, but I'm having a blast so far participating in the 11th round of Bout of Books!! Things are off to a great start for me on my first day and I'm hoping to finish strong!

If you haven't heard about Bout of Books, then please read the following blurb to learn more!

Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. 1. I really enjoyed Breakfast at Tiffany's when I read it a few years ago. I was impressed by Capote's writing, and I appreciated that the book is more complex and less syrupy than the film adaptation, with Holly written as a fuller, more believable (if less likable) person.

What did you think of it?

    1. I have mixed feeling about Breakfast at Tiffany's... I saw the movie version years ago and enjoyed it, but found the book version to portray Holly Golightly in a darker light than I expected it to do. I wasn't sure I liked Breakfast At Tiffany's after listening to it.... The writing and character development were good, but the book just didn't resonate with me initially. So, I gave it a less than stellar review on my blog... Now that some time has passed and I've had time to reflect on Breakfast at Tiffany's, I actually like it a lot more than I did yesterday. I'm wondering if I should now change my review of this book.

  2. That's a lot of listening! I'd like to read or listen to Breakfast at Tiffany's someday just to see how it compares to the film. Good luck with your goals, you seem to be flying so far :)

    1. Yes, I did a lot of listening yesterday, but not so much today. Have fun reading Breakfast at Tiffany's when you have a chance. Holly Golightly is a lot darker character in the novel than the movie version. Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy reading!!

    1. Thanks for the encouragement!! Today was a slow reading day for me as I only listened for about 2 hours, 16 minutes this evening. I was too bust with other stuff today. At least I participated in another challenge!! Good luck with your reading goals!!
