50/50 Friday is a meme hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reads and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. This fun themed meme focuses on the opposite sides of books (best/worst, differing opinions, etc). Every week a new topic will give bloggers the chance to showcase their answers.
Ugly Cover With the Best Story
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
I loved reading Outlander years ago. The cover may not be the ugliest
one out there, but the current
cover is so boring!!
Gorgeous Cover With the Worst Story
Ticker by Lisa Mantchev
Loved the cover for this novel, but the story itself was flat and
two dimensional! There was so much potential for this novel
to be so much better.
Which novels do you think have Ugly Cover With the Best Story/Gorgeous Cover With the Worst Story?
The covers of Susanna Kearsley's novels, a favorite author of mine, range from meh to boring, except The Firebird and The Winter Sea, but they are soooo good. ;-)ReplyDelete
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment!! Thank you as well for letting me know about Susanna Kearsley's novels as I've never read her novels before.Delete
Love the cover of Ticker. That is too bad the book didn't live up to it. And I agree about The Outlander cover. It is on the boring side.ReplyDelete
Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Happy reading!Delete
That Outlander cover is rather plain!ReplyDelete

This morning (and this could change) I feel that I don't personally equate or contrast covers with content. Book covers are marketing artifacts designed to make people want a book as an object. What matters is the story. I suppose that is somewhat the point of this meme. If the two are elegantly matched that is a good thing for readers.ReplyDelete
Book covers are definitely works of art and most definitely marketing ploys to grab ones attention... And of course, make you want to buy books!Delete
Outlander has been on my TBR for what feels like forever but it seems like I always pass it over because the cover does look so boring. The cover matters so much! Thanks for linking up, Lisa!ReplyDelete
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment, Laura! Happy reading and I hope you get to Outlander some day.Delete
