Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Top Ten Tuesday was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
At the end of each calendar year, I find it very difficult to select my top ten favorite books that I've read because I usually end up reading so many really good books throughout each year.
Below are my top eleven favorite books for 2020 in no particular order of preference.
1. George by Alex Gino
2. Becoming by Michelle Obama
3. Saving Ruby King by Catherine Adel West
4. The Parrot Who Owns Me by Joanna Burger
5. Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
6. The Familiar Dark by Amy Engel
7. Missoula by Jon Krakauer
8. Jackie As Editor by Greg Lawrence
9. The Real Lolita by Sarah Weinman
10. Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
11. Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction by Lisa Kröger and Melanie R. Anderson
What are your favorite books read for 2020? Did you have a difficult time selecting your top ten favorite reads for this year?
Great list.I love how you changed it to your favourite eleven. I'm often tempted and often do it but somehow I managed (after much deliberation) to whittle my list down to ten. Maybe we should spell out TTT into Top Twelve Tuesday. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe only book from your list that I read was Michelle Obama's but I read that last year and it was on my favourite top ten back then. Great book.
My TTT.
It was very difficult to narrow down my choices.
DeleteI know, it's one of the hardest things to do. It's almost like having to decide which of your children you love more. LOL
DeleteNice picks! All totally new to me ones. Glad you had so many books you enjoyed this year!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Happy reading to you in 2021!
DeleteKindred was such a good read.
ReplyDeleteMy post.
Yes, indeed! I look forward to reading more books by Octavia Butler.
DeleteBecoming was such a great read. It will always be one of my favorite celebrity memoirs.
ReplyDeleteGlad you seemed to enjoy this book as much as I did.
DeleteGeorge made my list too! The Familiar Dark is also on my TBR; I loved Roanoke Girls (as much as one can "love" a book with that subject matter!).
ReplyDeleteI read The Roanoke Girls as well and loved it more than The Familiar Dark.
DeleteI've seen BECOMING on a lot of lists today. My daughter loves that book! She took her copy away to college with her, so I guess I'll have to find one at the library. I'm glad to hear it's a great read.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Becoming is beautifully written book. I listened to the audio version, which was narrated by Michelle Obama. It was extra meaningful to hear her narrate her story.
DeleteI often have trouble with these lists as well. I've heard of several of these and Monster sounds like it would be good!
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one with difficulties in narrowing down my choices. Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Happy reading to you in 2021!
DeleteKindred is one I still need/want to read. And I loved Where'd You Go, Bernadette. Great list. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Happy reading to you in 2021!
DeleteThanks for your list. I won't do mine until the first of January. I do understand that 10 is not enough!
ReplyDeleteTen books is definitely to few books to list as my favorites, when I've read 89 books this year so far. I could have added more books to my list for sure. I am hoping to have one last book read by the end of 2020.
DeleteMy list will come out, hopefully, on January 1st. I finished Wild Seed by Octavia Butler last night.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your review of Wild Seed by Octavia Butler.
DeleteThat is an interesting list. I'm working on my favorites list and hope to have it ready soon. It's been tough because I read a lot of really good books this year.
ReplyDeleteI definitely could have added more books to my list... I was trying to keep it to just ten books.
