My husband and I returned last weekend from a long, roundtrip roadtrip that began in the San Francisco Bay Area to Monument Valley and the Four Corners Monument and back again to he San Francisco Bay Area.
Our first overnight stay was in Barstow, California. During our brief visit to Barstow, we found a Little Free Library the following morning before hitting the road again to our next overnight stop.
I left two books at this Little Free Library and only took one with me.
Traveling by car across the country is interesting as you see the landscape you'd not encounter while flying on an airplane. The vast difference in landscape throughout the state of California is really something else.
We traversed mainly desert landscapes on our way to Arizona, where major cities become far and few between. This can be difficult/frustrating when one needs a potty break. Cellphone service is also very spotty, where we'd have only a couple of bars of LTE vs 5G on our cellphones... Sometimes, we encountered no cell service at all for periods of time.

| Love the cloud formations during this leg of the trip. |

| We noticed tons of windmills at various points in our travels. They are HUGE in person! |

I'm a BIG fan of windmills/wind generators. I stood next to one - I was close enough to touch it - in Portugal *years* ago. It was amazing. You could hear it 'woosh' as it went around metres above our heads , but I could also (easily) hold a conversation with my girlfriend AND hear a grasshopper doing its thing at our feet. Fantastic machines.
ReplyDeleteWow, cool experience!! I'm not sure if we could get close enough to one of these windmills to have the same experience you did.
DeleteGreat photos. I especially like the one of the clouds above the hills. We love traveling in our RV instead of flying. Not only do we have our own bathroom with us all the time, but we have our bed & pillows AND coffee, which are always better than those in hotels.
ReplyDeleteMy husband wants an RV... Or rather one of those travel leisure vans when we retire to use while traveling around the country. It would make life easier and I'm sure the coffee would be better! I like have one's own bathroom too.
DeleteWe love those Class B travel vans, but they are super pricey (and not much storage). We have a Class C FourWinds motorhome. It's perfect for us and I do all the driving. :) I've shared a bunch of our trips on my blog. The most recent was from our trip to Canada in 2023.
DeleteI'm concerned about the priciness of a Class B travel van too. I'll share the Class C Fourwinds motorhome idea with him!
DeleteI always enjoy your tales of your travels, and especially the pictures of the LFLs, of course. But the rest is just as great. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment!! I'm glad you enjoyed reading about my travels too. I have more posts coming regarding my recent travels and more LFLs.
DeleteIt's always lovely to accompany others to places where I will probably never get to.
DeleteGreat pix and I especially love the first cloud formations one, wow pretty. We stayed in Barstow back in April .... when we were driving I-15 from Canada to SoCal and then back. Crazy but a nice trip.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's quite a roadtrip trip!! I hope you enjoyed your visit to SoCal!! Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos I posted.
