Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
Here are my 2015 resolutions:
1. Participate in new reading challenges hosted by other book bloggers!
2. Visit the San Francisco Center For the Book and blog about my experience there.
3. Hopefully, attend more author signing/literary events in 2015... I think I only attended two author signings this year.
4. Now that I live in Northern California, I live closer to Salinas... So, I want to visit the National Steinbeck Center as I'm a huge John Steinbeck fan!! And of course, blog about my experience with my readers.
5. Read and/or listen to 100 books or more in 2015!
6. Increase the number of nonfiction books I read in 2015. I read quite a few nonfiction books this year and many of them became my favorite reads of 2014.
7. I admit it, I'm a book buying addict!! I also love trading books with others through Bookcrossing... And, I love downloading free eBooks to my Kindle... I now have more books than I can possibly read in the next couple of years, so I'd like to put a halt on buying books in 2015. Sure, I can trade books through Bookcrossing or receive them as gifts... But seriously speaking, I'd like to see if I can NOT buy a single book during 2015 and focus solely on reading what I already have on my bookshelves... I've tried to make this my goal the past three years without success. I just can't seem to resist buying more books!! *** Note to self... Maybe I shouldn't attend any author signings or literary festivals where I may be too tempted to buy more books!!
8. Visit more independent bookstores in 2015 and share my reviews of the bookstores I visit here on my blog. *** Note to self... Once again, maybe I should reconsider visiting any bookstore as I may be too tempted to buy more books!?!?
9. Explore more new to me authors in 2015!!
10. Finish off reading the His Fair Assassin trilogy by Robin LaFevers as well the Den of Antiquities series by Tamar Myers in 2015.

What are your reading goals/resolutions for 2015?
Thank you for visiting my TTT post and I must say that yours is delightful! I love your goal about visiting independent bookstores, as we've seen more and more of them disappear in recent years. And exploring new authors - I read a lot of Christian fiction and always look for debut authors. I guess publishers are less willing to take a chance these days, because there aren't many new authors listed in 2015.
ReplyDeleteAwesome goals! There are lots of great challenges for 2015, I hope you join some of them ;) It's always great to finish series, I hope you enjoy Mortal Heart, I've heard it is amazing. Wow, 100 books!! Good luck with your goals, I wish you the best of luck :)
ReplyDeleteRachel @ A Perfection Called Books
Awesome goals! Man, the goal of not buying a single book is a lofty one. Good luck with it! I don't know that I would be able to do it.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by #7. I've done mini book buying bans in the past (not for a whole year but for chunks of time) but this year I bought a ton of books, lol (like, a lot more than usual xP).
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your resolutions next year :) Best wishes in the new year, thanks for dropping by my blog :)
It's great you can go to books events and signing. I live in South America so I can't go there! Have great time there!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visit my blog!
Great goals! I read a lot of nonfiction in 2014. The Nonfiction Reading Challenge at The Introverted Reader was helpful -- both for motivation and with ideas for new books to read. Here's the 2015 version: http://www.theintrovertedreader.com/2014/12/2015-nonfiction-reading-challenge.html
ReplyDeleteAnd, here's my Top 10 list: http://www.joyweesemoll.com/2014/12/30/reading-challenges-resolutions-top10-newyearbooks-healthbooks/
Good luck with your resolutions. Maybe instead of not buying books, you should just limit your buying. I couldn't stop, I'm addict! Happy reading in the New Year!

Do you think you could really not buy any books in 2015? I'm in awe at your restraint!
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear about your experience at the Steinbeck Center!
ReplyDeleteGreat Goals!
Oh i like that you will visit more indie bookstores and blog about them. I would like to do that too and make sure to visit an indie bookstore in each town we travel to on vacation. Good luck with your goals. It's my goal to read what I have this year too!
ReplyDeleteGoing to more author events could be so much fun! I've never been to one; they don't seem to happen that often where I live. Visiting more independent bookstores is also a fantastic resolution; I love the idea of supporting more local businesses.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! ALL of 2015 with NO book buying!? I think you should do like, a monthly post about this and let us know how you are doing! I think a lot of people are in awe about this, and we could cheer you on :)
ReplyDeleteI want to meet some authors, so that would fall under your signing category I think! I would be scared, but it''d be so great! And I hope you get to go to all those amazing places too! Good luck with all of them!
Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight
I wish you nothing but best of luck on your goals this years. I want to join more reading challenges too.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine if you would like too see it! http://wonderstruck-kcks.blogspot.com/2014/12/top-ten-goalsresolutions-for-2015.html
Good luck with your goals! :) I too would like to read more non-fiction books. I want to widen my reading genres/categories, you know? I did read one non fiction book this year though--which is actually a pretty big step for me. Usually I wouldn't look twice at a non fiction book.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful list! I want to aim for 100 books too in 2015! And challenges are great :3 I hope you find a fun challenge you'd like to take part in because it's really up to your preferences I guess. Good luck for the New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat resolutions! Reading challenges are great - maybe you could even host one of your own? And I love all the bookish trips you're planning.. Super jealous that you live in the US and can get to those places! Good luck with all your goals :)
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Dashing Good Books
I've tried to be bold and avoid buying new books, but sometimes you just have to. Right now, for example. I've just finished a big twenty-birthday-book November and, of course, a ten-book-Christmas month, but I'm still clamoring for the new Maira Kalman book. Is it so wrong to buy it?!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with these resolutions. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Steinbeck Center!

Love your goals! I can relate to most of them, especially when it comes the addiction to buy new books! I would never be able to go a whole year without buying a single book, I have a lousy character, at the most I manage 5 month in a row last year. But today, well just say, I've probably wouldn't last a month.
ReplyDeleteI realized now I totally forgot to put down on my TTT list to participate in book challenges! Of course I should do that.
Good luck on all of your goals and thank you for visiting my own TTT post.
Have a wonderful new year’s eve and a great start of 2015.

Those are great goals! I've read the whole His Fair Assassin series by Robin LaFevers and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my post! I definitely want to attend more author and book events. I'm hoping to meet Marissa Meyer when she goes to Arizona for her book tour of Fairest :D Good luck on all your goals!
ReplyDeleteAmber @ Dystopian Wonders
Great goals! I'd like to do more bookstore visiting myself - check out special bookstores I haven't been to, and so on. But yes, it does mean risking the temptation to buy, buy, buy! I also considered putting a moratorium on book buying for a year, but who am I kidding, I'd never be able to stick to it. So I'll just have to try to keep it under control! Thanks for stopping by my blog, and best of luck with all your goals!
ReplyDeleteThank you for checking out my TTT post and leaving a comment! Yours is really awesome. I've never been to an author/book event and think that going to one or more in 2015 is an awesome goal for the year! Good luck on all of them!
ReplyDeleteAnna @ Sincerely, Anna
Saw your goals after you commented on mine and Danee's over at FictionFunction on wordpress. I run my own book/life blog http://samanthakilford.blogspot.co.uk. These are some awesome goals! Happy 2015!
ReplyDeleteTonight or tomorrow I need to get my challenges together and write up a post about them. I haven't done any before except goodreads so I really one to give one a shot this year. I like #2 and #4 on your list. I love to actually go and do bookish things!!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals. If you're looking for some challenges, Freda's Voice is running the 100+ Book Challenge again this year. She offers prizes when she is able. With your goal to read 100 or more books, it sounds right up your alley. Good luck with this and your other goals.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting The Book Connection. Happy New Year.
I love that so many of your goals are about taking advantage of bookish opportunities near you. Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the same page with the way too many books. I bow down to you, though, if you can not buy any books this year. I'm trying to slow down, and I'm tentatively hopeful. Good luck to you, though, on all your goals! I hope your year is fantastic (and full of fantastic books). :)
ReplyDeleteI hope I can one day read 100 books as well. Since my reading slump has magically disappeared, I might make is a super secret goal.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading to you this year!! I think reading any number of books is awesome, so read to hearts content!
DeleteGood resolutions. How many of them have to done already?
