Top Ten Tuesday - Books with a High Page Count I Want to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Top Ten Tuesday was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I use to be an avid reader of books with large page counts. However, in the past decade or two, I've enjoyed reading shorter reads under 5 hundred pages in length.

Below is a list of longer books I'd like to read some day.

1. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

2. War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy

3. Russka by Edward Rutherfurd

4. Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd

5. The Lucuna by Barbara Kingsolver

6. The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters

7. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo

8. The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton

9. Sacajawea by Anna Waldo

10.Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

Have you read any of the above novels?

  1. Ooh nice! These are all mainly new to me ones. Some are familiar sounding but others are still totally new to me ones!

  3. I tried to read Jonathan Strange and it just wasn't for me. I hope if you decide to read it, you enjoy it more.

  5. I've actually read six of those, most of them in the summers of my youth when I had little to do between school terms. My favorites of the ones I've read are the first two on your list, in reverse order. "War and Peace" may, in fact, be my all time favorite read.

    1. Now I'm motivated more than ever to read both War and Peace and Anna Karenina.

  6. Sarum was good, particularly if you like the long historical saga genre. I tend to prefer to stick with one set of characters, but I did enjoy Sarum.

  7. The only one of these I have read is Sarum, which I read around when it came out, back in my 20s. It was good, but I have largely forgotten the details.

  9. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell appeals to me, one or two others have it on their lists this week.

    1. It does seem that Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell has been a popular choice for this week's topic!

  10. Same. I only read a few 500+ page books a year. That's all I have patience for! Ha ha.

I read JONATHAN STRANGE, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember anything about it.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Like you, if I read a book a long time ago, it's easy to forget the details of said book.

  11. On your list I've read #s 7 and 10. But these days I like books under 400 pages...and on really tired days, I prefer books under 300. ;D

    1. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke seems to be a popular choice for this week's TTT post.

I use to read books with longer page counts when I was younger, but now I usually read books with fewer than 400 pages too.
